Woodward Will See a Parade of Mustangs

The Woodward drive that takes place in August every year will see a cavalcade of one particular model for us to admire and love. When you see a Ford Mustang on the road, if a feeling of patriotism doesn’t wash over you there’s simply something missing in your feelings. This is a car that’s as red, white, and blue as baseball and apple pie. During the annual drive down Woodward, Ford will show of several Mustang models which are sure to get your patriotic juices flowing and give you a look at what the Ford brand offers.

The Parade of Ponies

As the Ford team prepares for the drive down Woodward, they will bring several Mustangs to give us a look at some of the history and special models the brand has created. We’ll see the first ever Mustang, the ten-millionth Mustang, the original Bullitt, the Eagle Squadron Special Edition, and a brand new production model that the team has been tight-lipped about so far. Considering these cars will make their way from Mustang Alley and onto the course, it will be a show that you don’t want to miss.

The Secret Mustang

There have only been a few small hints at what the secret Mustang will be, but we’re pretty sure it will be the new Mustang Cobra Jet. This is a car that sees action as a race car to be on the track alongside the Mustang GT4 and in NHRA on a couple of different levels. This car is a purpose-built drag racer that will be limited to only 68 models, which is a nod to the original 1968 Cobra Jet, and it will be produced and offered during the rest of the quarter to be a car that’s limited and ready for you to drive.

Qualities of the Mustang Cobra Jet

The power for this new Mustang is provided by the 5.2-liter Coyote V8 engine and the car makes use of a unique four-link rear suspension that’s attached to a Strange Engineering Ford 9-inch rear axle. Inside this car is an NHRA-certified roll cage and Racetech FIA seats. This car is expected to be good enough to reach a top speed of 150 mph and run a quarter mile in the middle of the eight-second time, making it one of the fastest production cars to ever come off an assembly line.

More Mustangs to Pull at your Heart Strings

While Ford is bringing a few Mustang models for the Woodward drive, there will be more than 1,000 Mustangs on hand. Most of these are privately owned models that span the decades this pony car has been on the market. Several different Mustang-only events are planned for the day to give owners of special cars the chance to make a drive with cars they’ve admired. The Eagle Squadron Mustang GT will also be presented to the winner of the auction where it was sold. The Woodward drive will certainly be an event that has many Mustangs involved in the event.
