The 2023 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado Have Shocking Price Ranges

The two massive American automakers, GMC and Chevrolet, have some big pricing updates going into the 2023 Calendar year. While their new trucks are worth being excited about, the prices are a bit concerning.

As 2022 inches to a close and automakers prepare for the beginning of the new year, automakers are letting their customers know what their vehicles will cost in 2023. GMC and Chevrolet, who are both owned and operated by General Motors, have posted their prices for the 2023 Canyon and Colorado.

These two mid-size trucks are very popular in America, and customers might be shocked to learn that the prices of these two trucks, when looked at by trim, range from $30k to $66K. Inflation has definitely played a factor, but typically, price ranges don’t have such big differences.

GMC and Chevrolet: The Same. Kind Of

If you are wondering why these trucks are sharing the spotlight right now, it’s because they are very similar. They are so similar, in fact, that some would say they are virtually the same truck. While they are branded differently, the GMC Canyon and the Chevy Colorado are twins. GM has ensured that the two companies have a healthy spread covering the mid-size truck market.

With differing technology, the trucks share the same engine. The same exact engine! A 2.7L turbo engine is impressive but not enough to set these trucks apart. On top of all that, prices have gone haywire.

Trims and Price Tags

Long story short, GMC and Chevrolet have simplified a lot going into the 2023 editions of these trucks. They have axed some of their respective trims and opted to simplify customer options.

The 2023 Colorado, which will soon be at the Chevy dealer, is the cheapest option. The standard trim starts at $30,695 but has the lowest output of power out of any of the trims, both Colorado and Canyon. The standard version GMC Canyon starts at an increased $38,095 and has a higher output than the standard Colorado.

Both the Colorado and the Canyon offer offroading options, and this is where price skyrockets. The Chevy Colorado’s Trail Boss trim level starts at $38,495, and the upgraded version, the Colorado ZR2, starts at $48,295. The GMC AT4X, a much-anticipated offroading truck, starts at $56,995. A hefty price to pay for one of the best offroading, mid-size trucks of the year.

But it doesn’t stop there. The best version of the Canyon—and the most expensive—is the AT4X with the Edition 1 package that will cost customers a staggering $66,290.
