5 Most Expensive Supercars on The Grand Tour
The Grand Tour has become one of the most popular car shows on any streaming service. Amazon Prime got it right, bringing this show together.
The hosts of The Grand Tour are the three original hosts of Top Gear on BBC. These wacky British car guys are Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond. You don’t have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy the fun and amazing antics of these three. Mostly, they pull practical jokes on each other to see how miserable they can make one another, but they also offer us some of the coolest and most expensive supercars in the world. Here are five of them.
Ferrari LaFerrari
The Ferrari LaFerrari is one of the most incredible supercars in existence. The model James May took to the track packs 950 horsepower and uses a Formula One KERS system to provide the hybrid power that makes it extremely fast and impressive. This car delivers the goods and is part of an episode where these three Brits took some extremely amazing supercars to the track for some fun.
The Ferrari LaFerrari costs more than $1,000,000, but if you want extreme power and performance, it could be the perfect car for you to drive. The KERS system recovers energy every time the brakes are used, sending that power to the batteries and the motor to be used for more driving range and power. The version James May brought to the track was one that hadn’t passed on-road requirements. This meant James had a lot of fun on the track but couldn’t join the other two when it was time to head to the hotel and enjoy the sports cars on the road.
Bugatti EB110 Super Sports
Just putting the name Bugatti on a car gives you one of the most expensive supercars in the world, and the team at The Grand Tour is allowed to drive many of these amazing high-priced machines. The EB110 has been one of the most iconic cars from the brand for many years. Clarkson makes the claim there are only three cars in the world that are faster than the Bugatti EB100 Super Sports.
This car from the latter part of the last century is an incredibly fast and glorious machine on any track. Once the four turbochargers spool up, there are very few cars in the world that can be as quick as the EB110. This Bugatti is well over $1,500,000, and it’s a car that delivers the goods around a track or on the road. This expensive and iconic car is one that everyone is sure to love when they see it. Of course, not many people get that chance, but you can see it on the show.
Aston Martin Vulcan
At close to $2,000,000, the Aston Martin Vulcan is one of the most expensive supercars in the world. This car isn’t made for practicality, it’s made for power, speed, performance, and amazing style. Of course, because The Grand Tour cast and crew love to make things interesting, they took the tallest host and stuck him in the tight confines of the Aston Martin Vulcan. This car, as Jeremy tells us, is an extremely loud place to be when you’re behind the wheel.
The brakes are the loudest part, according to Clarkson, and when you listen to them in the video below, you’ll wonder how a car that costs so much can be so loud during braking. This amazing car tosses you around and offers a harsh ride, but you’ve got to expect that from the Aston Martin Vulcan. To drive this car, you’ve truly got to be someone that loves all of the noises that come along with extreme performance, and you’ve got to have your head screwed on tight. The Vulcan is expensive, powerful, and loud; everything you’d expect from an Aston Martin exotic supercar.
Bugatti Veyron
For the better part of a decade, the Bugatti Veyron was the certified fastest production car in existence. This amazing sports car costs more than $2,000,000. The unique look and amazing power of the Veyron make it one of the most exclusive and fast supercars to ever hit the road. Thankfully, The Grand Tour team was able to get hold of one and show us exactly how fast this amazing performance car can be when it’s put up against one of the fastest Porsche models in the world.
As Richard Hammond puts the Bugatti Veyron up against the Porsche 918 Spyder, we see that the old-school performance of the Veyron doesn’t quite match the lightweight build of the Porsche. That said, the Veyron is one of the most expensive supercars ever put on the show, and it’s an incredible tribute to what it stood for during the time when this car was the fastest vehicle in the world. That time has passed but it doesn’t change the fact that this was a fast supercar and one of the most expensive on the show.
Bugatti Chiron
The car that reaches close to $3,000,000 is the Bugatti Chiron. This amazing car has taken back the crown of the fastest car in the world for the Bugatti team. If you thought the Veyron was something special; the Chiron comes along to offer something even more special for the drive. This amazing car isn’t meant for the faint of heart. The Chiron can empty a tank of gas in only nine minutes while running flat out, which is hard to do for that long in this car.
The Grand Tour team allowed Jeremy Clarkson to be the driver of the Bugatti Chiron, and he offered some stats that tell us how over-the-top and crazy this car happens to be. Those that have this Bugatti in the garage don’t drive it for the economy, they drive it to show off how much money they have and the amazing power offered. If you’re looking for the new crown jewel of the supercar world, the Bugatti Chiron is that car.
