This New Bronco Could Feature a Big V8

The Baja world is being put on notice as the new Bronco V8 heads to the dirt tracks around the world to take on the toughest challenges.

This new version of the Ford Bronco is being made to be used in desert races, including the Baja 1000, to be an SUV that will be used by the teams that enter these races. It’s also going to be one of the most exclusive Ford models ever made, with only 50 models of this Bronco being made.

What is This New Bronco?

Called the Bronco DR, this new version of the newest member of the Ford SUV lineup will be powered right and built to tackle the world of Baja racing. This is not an SUV that could take on the latest V8-powered Jeep Wrangler 392 but will be used for this niche of driving and racing around the globe. You could see the Bronco DR entering races and taking on this small world of desert fun before the end of next year. Will this new SUV be one of the vehicles that takes a racing team to the top of the podium during the next racing season?

Performance Goes Hardcore

The new Bronco V8 model will make use of the venerable 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine that comes out of the Mustang GT. The goal is to make at least 400 horsepower, but we don’t have any official numbers yet.

Along with this impressive engine, the Bronco DR uses a set of DSSV dampers, a roll cage, and lower control arms sourced by the team at Multimatic. You’ll find a ton of off-road items that have been added to the Bronco for this challenge. The transfer case comes from the F-150, special half-shafts, and a rear-mounted radiator have been made for this SUV, and this beast rides on 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 tires.

This new Bronco offers an approach angle of 47 degrees, a departure angle of 37 degrees, and a breakover angle of 33 degrees. These are all measurements that make this impressive SUV competitive with the rest of the Baja vehicles.

Inspired Influence in the Racing World

This isn’t the first time that a Bronco has been used for racing. The first race truck was built on a Bronco platform, and it was called the Bronco R. This model influences the style of the new Bronco V8 model.

You’ll see a united fascia, a light bar over the cabin, and widebody fenders to give racers the build they need for the drive. The goal of this amazing new SUV is to allow the Bronco DR to be a reliable solution for those who want to race in these desert races. Facing some of the toughest elements and terrain in the world is the challenge for this new Bronco.

When You Aren’t Going to the Baja Races

If you’re not willing to shell out more than $200,000 for a Ford Bronco with a V8 engine, but you want to enjoy what this new SUV has to offer, you can certainly experience the drive and fun of a production model of the Bronco. Besides, those 50 models will be gobbled up so fast you probably won’t have time to get your name in the running to buy one.

The Ford Bronco is an impressive off-road SUV that can give you the drive you’re looking for when it’s time to head out for some fun and adventures. There’s no denying the fact that this SUV is made to challenge the Jeep Wrangler, and it’s doing an amazing job of taking over the market already.

Go Wherever You Want

The centerpiece feature of the new Bronco is the Goes Over Any Terrain (GOAT) mode that is a terrain management system allowing you to take on everything from and to rocks when you drive. The ground clearance is 8.3 inches unless you have the Badlands version, which is set at 11.6 inches above the ground. You might never take your Bronco to anywhere worse than a wet grassy area that’s being used for a parking lot, but you’ll know that you can go everywhere you want and handle the tough challenges during your drive.

This is an SUV that Brings You Tech for the Wilderness

Some of the driving functions you used to need to perform when driving on the trails can be done by the Bronco. This SUV has Trail Turn Assist to give you the maneuverability you need when you’re out on the rugged paths. The Trail One-Pedal Drive makes it easier for you to handle your off-road adventures, and you’ll love having the benefits of the 360-degree camera system that shows you the rocks, trees, roots, and rough areas around the tires that will help you make the right choices during your ride.

If You Love Adventure, You’ll Want the Sasquatch Package

Add the benefits of the Sasquatch Package to your Ford Bronco and enjoy the features it brings for you. This package gives you 35-inch all-terrain tires, locking front/rear differentials, high-clearance fender flares, a high-clearance suspension, position-sensitive Bilstein shocks, and Trail Control mode. These items are made for a Bronco that’s going to face rocks, trees, and other large items that it might have to climb over to make it to the destination. Let this package become part of your Bronco and drive this SUV wherever you want.

The V8 is Fun, but You’ll Find a Regular Model Might be Right for You

It’s pretty cool to think about the Bronco V8 and whether or not you’ll see the DR model on the podium after one of the desert races that is scheduled for next year, but if you want a Bronco of your own, it likely won’t be one of those models.

Watch as the racing team represents this Ford in the deserts around the world while you enjoy the fun and adventures that you find when you take your Bronco to the trails for a wonderful weekend in the wilderness.
