The Cute Honda E has Numbers

We’ve been admiring the new Honda E electric car ever since it was put on display at the Tokyo Motor Show and admired its build and style.

This Honda captured our attention, gave us the idea of a drive that can be fun, but until now, we haven’t had any numbers to go with it. Here’s a small and impressive electric hatchback that offers us the same look and feeling as hatchback models of old while bringing in the new and advanced electronics we admire today. This little car has a lot to offer, making it an excellent choice for city and light suburban driving.

The Power that Makes you Smile

The new Honda E is a tiny car and because of this, you can easily expect it to have a small power plant for the drive. This car uses a single electric motor that sends power to the rear wheels. The use of a 35.5 kWh battery pack under the floor gives this car the source of power which comes in at 148 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque. The battery is placed in the floor, creates a greater center of gravity for the Honda E to give you an agile and impressive ride.

Turning the Right Way

Honda created the new E to give us a car that would have the electric drive and the low price we’ve been looking for. What they have built is a small car that can turn in a smaller radius than the Smart ForTwo Electric Drive. The small Honda E can turn around in only 14 feet, which is the smallest number on the market today. You’ll also have up to 124 miles of driving on a full charge, which doesn’t sound like much, but it’s more than enough to give you the drive you want in city traffic every day.

Why is the Range so Small in the Honda E?

Honda could easily enter the battery war with other automakers and create a small electric car with a big battery and a ton of range, but that would mean a higher cost and greater size and weight to the vehicle. In order to give us the personality and fun-loving look and feel of the Honda E, the battery pack has to remain small, which means the range is lower than what you might find on other electric vehicles.

Is the Honda E Right for You?

This new and small electric car has been created to drive on the streets in Europe which are small and tight. So far, we don’t see any plans for the Honda E to make its way to American soil to be sold. You may be able to drive this car when you travel to Europe, and we might see this little car make its way to our shores at some point in the future to be a small and active car that can be enjoyed in some of the heavier city streets that we have to offer.
