The Hot Hatch We Want Chevrolet to Build

While Chevrolet offers a few varieties of hot hatches, the Cruze is the clear-cut winner.
Ok, the Chevrolet Spark is cute, the Chevrolet Sonic is more practical in its hatchback form, but the real leader of the hatchback segment from Chevrolet is the Cruze Hatchback.

This car has an enormous amount of cargo space for you to carry everything you want with you when you head out on the road. This car came to the market as one that shows that you can take a small sedan and open up the rear and still have a glorious appearance to admire and enjoy when you drive.

Can the Cruze Hatchback Tickle Our Imagination

Several automakers have found a way to offer us a hot hatch with more power and more performance features than most of us feel should be allowed, but we’re certainly glad they do. So far, Chevrolet hasn’t followed this path and continues to churn out more of the models we love with focus on what each of their vehicles has been for many years. It seems, a part of the Chevrolet family has decided to let the Cruze Hatchback become a powerful machine. This concept model was shown off in Brazil at the Sao Paolo car show.

The Chevrolet Cruze SS

Chevrolet does have experience offering us powerful front-drive cars with the former Cobalt SS that was offered for a while. This new Cruze SS model made its way across the stage at this show wearing the Cruze RS body kit and a set of 20-inch wheels. The engine bay didn’t grow, instead, the team tuned up the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to a strong 296 horsepower to give us more power from the addition of items that make a huge difference for the fun you would want to enjoy on the road.

More Upgrades from this Chevrolet Team

The engine isn’t the only place the Brazilian arm of Chevrolet improved this Cruze, the interior offers a more and the braking has been improved as well. There’s a pair of sporty bucket seats with a Sparco racing harness up front. There’s also a custom sound system for the music you want to enjoy. The brakes show off slotted rotors that allow for the sportier performance you would want in a sporty hot hatch version of the Chevrolet Cruze. This is a version of the Cruze that we could love to drive and enjoy on the road.

Will We see the Cruze SS?

Unfortunately, Chevrolet doesn’t seem to have any plans to make the Cruze SS or a variation of it for us to admire and enjoy when we want to take a drive. Right now, the team is happy to combat the hot hatch models with the four-cylinder 1LE model of the Camaro. Maybe we will see the hot hatch version of the Cruze in the future, but right now it doesn’t seem to make sense to have this car added to the North American market. Sorry, if you want to drive the Cruze SS you might have to build your own.
