Ford Appears Tired of the Jeep Dominance
Is Ford going to hush the crowds of Jeep lovers with a new version of the off-road SUV that we have been looking for in the Bronco?
When you’re asked about the most capable off-road vehicle at an affordable price you will certainly think of the Jeep Wrangler. Because Ford hasn’t had the Bronco on the market for many years, this is a name that doesn’t offer us what we’ve wanted, but it’s about to.
The Ford Bronco, for many years, was the true challenger to the Jeep Wrangler and was one of the original off-road-ready vehicles that would give you the 4WD system you wanted to enjoy when it was time to head out on the road.
The Right Ford Announcement
Ford announced in 2017 it would bring back the Bronco name, although at the time the name was all we got from them.
Recently, Ford held a press conference and brought a vehicle out for us to take a look at, but the cover was never taken off the SUV that was clearly waiting under a heavy tarp to give us an idea of what the new Ford Bronco will be.
Even though the cover wasn’t taken off, it was easy to see the size and proportions of the new Bronco which will be part of the 2021 model year lineup.
Adding More Off-Road Items from Ford
Because Ford would like to regain some of its dominance in the off-road market and offer us the vehicles we want to drive in the wilderness, they have also announced there will be a second off-roader offered in the lineup to give us what we want when it’s time to head out on the trails.
We don’t know what the baby off-roader will be called and all we’ve seen so far is a rendering of what the vehicle could be, but the target for this vehicle appears to be the Jeep Renegade.
The Target is the Wrangler
As Ford works to regain some of the footholds it once had in the off-road market, the new 2020 Bronco will lead the way and offer us a name we know. This SUV is going to be based on the new 2019 Ford Ranger to give us a look at what to expect from the Bronco as it makes its way to the lineup.
The image of the vehicle under the cover appears to be one that has a boxy, upright shape, a short wheelbase, and minimal overhangs to provide it with the qualities needed to become an SUV that will be able to challenge the Jeep Wrangler.
Ford Wants Off-Roaders Again
Ford appears to be ready to take some of the market share for the off-road vehicles it offers, the only question is whether or not we’re going to be ready to purchase a Bronco or this new smaller Ford rather than one of the Jeep branded models that offer us the active drive and off-road qualities we want for the drive in our area.
With the increased desire for the SUV models that can get out on the road and offer us fun and adventure, it seems the market is wide open and Ford is ready to drive in and take what’s theirs.
