The studies performed showed the team that more air could flow under the vehicle and pressurize the chassis with a lifted stance, but this added to the aerodynamic drag of the vehicle. In order to reduce this drag, the team used simulations and testing to create the guides needed to direct the air around the back of the vehicle and make it more efficient.

This new style allows the SUV to offer you an increase in three mpg for the Terrain to let you have an estimated level of 26mpg combined for the AWD versions of this SUV.
