Cruising it Mario Kart Style
When we pay the high price of a cruise on a ship we expect to be able to enjoy great food and excellent entertainment. With parties every night and lots of activities these massive vessels have become floating cities with lots for you to do. You can now ice skate, surf, rock climb and participate in many other activities. There is no way you could ever get bored on a cruise ship with so much to do between ports, but if you are a fan of Mario Kart or of any form of racing there is a new ship you will enjoy.
The Norwegian Joy now offers you the fun of go-kart racing. This ship is 168,000 tons in weight and has twenty decks to make it a floating fortress of massive proportions. What is now featured on two of the decks is a kart track that has several turns and offers a lot of fun for anyone who wants to have some fun racing aboard the ship. These little karts do resemble the ones you can race in the Mario Kart game and give you some excitement with awesome elevation changes and a lot of tight turns for you to enjoy.
Currently the Norwegian Joy is under construction, and when it does set sail it will have the ability to board 4,200 passengers and carry 1,700 crew members. The planned time for the maiden voyage is in the summer of 2017 and the kart racing course will be just one of the amazing features of this 1,069 foot long monster. Other activities that will be offered include bumper cars, a 360-foot water slide, simulators, two casinos, and several luxury retail stores. If you happen to be in the upper part of the wealth of the world you can enjoy The Haven which will have 74 private suites that are all services by a butler while offering private lounges, pools, dining areas and a casino just for this group.
How much fun would it be to spend some time at sea behind the wheel of a kart that is similar to the kart racing circuit we see around the country? This could be the cruise for you if you are a car enthusiast, video game lover, kart racer or just someone who thinks it would be cool to see how much fun one of these karts could be, especially on a massive cruise ship.
Unfortunately if you do want to book a cruise on the Norwegian Joy you will have to travel to Shanghai or Beijing before the voyage begins. Even though itineraries haven’t been published yet this is the planned route for this ship for now. If this is a success, as it’s expected to be, we may see more cruise ships in the near future that offer us the fun of racing on two or more decks of the ship to have something extremely fun to do while the ship is at sea. Of course what you do when you are in port is completely up to you, but you might just pick up a new hobby after racing one of these karts on the ship.
