Nissan reveals the GT-R 45th Anniversary edition

The Nissan GT-R turned 45 this year, and the Japanese automaker is celebrating with a special edition model, according to Motor Authority. While the car was only introduced in the United States for the 2009 model year, the GT-R has a long and storied past in its home market, almost like a Japanese equivalent to the Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Corvette.

Because of this, the anniversary edition will only be available in Japan, but some of the upgrades will be making their way to the standard GT-R 2016 models in the United States. A mere 45 GT-R 45th Anniversary edition cars will be produced, all of which will feature Silica Brass paint inspired by the color used on the R34-generation M-Spec model, according to GT Spirit.

Nissan also intends to introduce other changes to help further refine the car known as “Godzilla.” Japanese engineers have tweaked the dampers, tires, steering, and brakes for a smoother, more stable feel, and recalibrated the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to be quieter. The 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6, on the other hand, has been left untouched, according to EVO.
