New Lamborghini CEO Gives us a Look at What to Expect

10.04.16 - Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali

The new CEO of Lamborghini, Stefano Domenicali offers us a look at what we can expect when the company continues to grow with the new technology that’s on the market today. As he takes over the company to be the newest leader of one of the most respected names in the world of supercars he gives us a look at what he thinks the newest technology can bring to the brand he’s now in charge of. Let’s take a look at what his vision is for the next way Lamborghini will head into the next few years of driving excitement.

In regards to autonomous technology Domenicali says he doesn’t expect customers to even desire this technology on their Lamborghini vehicles. Most owners of Lamborghini cars have multiple high priced automobiles in their own personal fleet and he expects many of the other vehicles they own will come with autonomous driving technology when it actually is fully available. Lamborghini models are bought for the excitement of driving and give you the ability to enjoy the driving you want to on the road, but with autonomous technology you wouldn’t get to enjoy the ride as much. For this reason Lamborghini is not planning to add autonomous driving to their vehicles.

With regards to the alternative powertrains that we see in many vehicles today there is a completely different story. These new powertrains are the future of the automotive world and will be a part of the Lamborghini lineup in the future. Even though Lamborghini is a brand that has been able to avoid electrification, hybridization and fuel cells thus far Domenicali says there is now way to avoid this in the future of the models that are going to come off the line as the need for more power from other forms of propulsion are needed.

Domenicali informed us that he doesn’t see the alternative powertrains being used right away, but as they are there will be a need for these powertrains to be flexible enough to work in nearly every model that is built by Lamborghini. As for offering an IPO in the same manner Ferrari did, there was no hesitation to the negative as the goals are not for the short term, but for longer and more sustaining on the market to be able to offer us a lineup of vehicles that are able to offer a great deal of exceptional driving.

The future of Lamborghini may show us four possible models that will make a huge difference in the market of supercars. Even though that may be the future the focus according to Domenicali is on the new Urus SUV that will be offered in the next couple years. With this focus and a plan that is pragmatic in nature we will see a lineup of vehicles that embrace the new powertrains and continue to allow us to enjoy the drive of the Lamborghini brand for many years to come.
