Mercedes-Benz is working on an S-Class convertible

As far as two-door luxury vehicles are concerned, you’d be hard pressed to find any real faults with the  Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. However, people who enjoy basking in the sun and gazing at the stars might take issue with the fact that vehicle’s fixed roof doesn’t allow for that kind of thing, but according to Autocar, Mercedes-Benz will be fixing that particular issue by the end of the year.

Speaking with the British automotive magazine, S-Class project manager Martin Hulder revealed that the German automaker will be releasing a convertible version of the S-Class will be launching sometime later this year, although the company hasn’t specified when. Hulder teased the release, saying: “I can confirm that there will be a car for star gazers later in the year.”

Many expect the company to release the vehicle at either the Geneva or New York auto shows later in the spring which would allow Mercedes-Benz to put the vehicle up for sale in time for summer, which is obviously the best time to release a convertible. However, the bi-annual Frankfurt show in September is especially popular among German brands for debuting prestigious vehicles such as this one.

There’s next to no information on the vehicle at the moment, but it most likely won’t differ very much in terms of performance or style, so you could probably get an idea of what the vehicle will look like by imagining the current S-Class Coupe, just without a roof. This will also be the first convertible version of the modern S-Class from Mercedes-Benz.
