Dodge has announced the price and specs for the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat
The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will be going on sale this fall, the auto maker announced yesterday. This monster will come equipped with a 707 horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8, far exceeding the 662 horsepower Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and the 580 horsepower Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
That extra power comes at a price though. Whereas the GT500 goes for $55,935 and the ZL1 goes for $57,650, the Hellcat will run you a whopping $60,990 at launch. This is still better than the 691 horsepower Lamborghini Aventador which’ll cost you $397,500.
With 650 lb-ft of torque, the Challenger SRT Hellcat is the most-powerful American production car ever made, and Dodge is claiming that it can do a quarter-mile run in 11.2 seconds at 125 mph on its showroom stock tires, and just 10.8 with a set of street-legal drag radials installed.
Dodge also announced pricing for the rest of the 2015 Challenger lineup. The SRT 392, with a not-at-all-shabby 485 horsepower, upgraded six-piston Brembo front brakes, three-mode adaptive suspension, and new Drive Modes function starts from $45,995.
The Challenger R/T leverages its 5.7-liter HEMI and new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission for a fair bit of fun at $38,495, while the R/T Scat Pack offers 6.4-liter HEMI power, and two new R/T Shaker models add a dose of retro style.
The more pedestrian 2015 Challenger SXT benefits from this year’s redesigned exterior, and while not a tire-shredder, still offers a balanced 305 horsepower and EPA 30 mpg highway. If you’re after a base challenger, that can start from as little as $26,995.
