The Perfect Road Trip Car is a Corvette?

06.02.16 - Corvette Logo

While most of us think of the Corvette as a beautiful American sports car that represents all that is good about America and shows off what our supercars can be. Even though the Corvette doesn’t typically qualify as a supercar, its normally affordable enough for most to enjoy driving on our streets and at various events around the country. With the expanse of our nation and tracks all over the country that can be enjoyed do you think of the Corvette as a road trip car for you to head out across this great nation of ours.

The challenge with a road trip in this car, especially if you take someone with you is space. Essentially the Corvette is a hatchback, but that hatch offers very little space and you won’t have much of a suitcase of gear which can be a problem if you don’t want to use the hotel laundry at every stop along the way. There has to be a way for the Corvette to offer you more space so you can experience more tracks of the country when you arrive at a variety of destination along your road trip and Callaway has the answer.

In the fourth quarter of 2016 Callaway will offer the Chevrolet Corvette AeroWagen that will be a Corvette that has been fitted with a large rear end cargo area so you can have a place for some camping gear or whatever essentials you feel you need. This structure, which is built by Callaway, will be a carbon fiber composite item that is one piece and made to fit perfectly on the Corvette as it currently is built. The only catch is the only Corvettes that will be offered or eligible for this item are the C7 models, but it could be a great item to have on your Corvette.

Because the item is not meant to change the chassis or running gear configuration you can’t put in more seats, but it does give you more space. While there will be some Corvettes sold with the modification, you can order it for yourself and the installation is easy and reversible to allow you to put the Corvette back to its original form. For a conversion kit price of $15,000 and an additional $1,500 for the paint to match your vehicle you can have a Corvette AeroWagen that gives you and your travelling companion the space you need to make the road trip.

How crazy would it be to rip around the track in a Corvette that has been turned into a two door station wagon? With this Callaway upgrade you can head out and enjoy the variety of great tracks all over the country that offer you the excitement of different shapes and varying climates. If you have been looking for a great way to take your Corvette on the road but just felt it didn’t offer the space you need to travel; now you have a great solution to this unique problem, add this modification and enjoy the open road on your amazing journey.
