The Ford Ranger is Named 2025 North American Truck of the Year
The 2025 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards committee has recognized the Ford Ranger as the 2025 North American Truck of the Year. Ford has once again raised the bar for the midsize truck segment by fully redesigning the Ranger for 2024. The redesign also included a Raptor model for the most high-performance Ranger ever.
Fifth Consecutive Year For Ford Trucks
This is the fifth consecutive year that a Ford truck has won the North American Truck of the Year award. It’s an unprecedented achievement that shows Ford’s continued leadership of the segment, as well as innovation and capability. The Ford Ranger exemplifies this with its recent redesign, which added a more powerful 2.7-liter V6 as an optional engine.
Meanwhile, the Ford Ranger Raptor was designed to take off-road performance to the next level among midsize trucks. The Ranger was rigorously tested in several challenging environments to help engineers deliver the durability behind the Built Ford Tough motto.
The North American Truck of the Year award is given only to new or significantly changed vehicles for the year. An independent and unbiased committee of 50 automotive journalists chooses the winner based on the areas of innovation, design, safety, performance, technology, user experience, driver satisfaction, and value.
Most Connected and Capable Ford Ranger Ever
Among all Ranger trucks for sale, this is the most capable and connected model ever. The 2024 Ford Ranger was rigorously tested all over the globe, from American highways to the rugged Australian outback. The Ranger is ready for adventure, no matter where it’s found. The Ranger was Australia’s best-selling vehicle again in 2024.
The award recognizes the admirable combination of advanced tech, smart connected features, and rugged durability that distinguishes the new Ford Ranger. Everything in the Ranger is designed to enhance both on-road and off-road experiences. The Ranger’s new V6 engine, improved suspension, and new off-road features make it perfect for the midsize truck segment.
Ford Ranger Delivers Even More Power and Performance
More power means more performance, and the 2024 Ford Ranger offers best-in-class horsepower with the Raptor model. The new Ranger also has more available towing technology than before, including Pro Trailer Backup Assist. A newly freshened interior adds digital gauge clusters, wireless charging, large touchscreens, and rear seats that fold flat for more storage.
All Ranger models have been improved across the board, but the Ranger Raptor is the most exciting, with 405 horsepower, a long travel suspension, and 2.5-inch Fox Live Valve shocks. The Raptor was tested and race-proven in the Baja 1000. The Ford Ranger is assembled at the Michigan Assembly Plant in the United States.
The 2024 North American Truck of the Year is the Ford F-Series Super Duty
The previous award went to the Ford Super Duty thanks to its redesign with some of the same features that gave the Ranger the win this year. More towing tech, a more comfortable interior, and an upgraded user experience were all reasons the Ford Super Duty picked up the award last year.
