The midsize SUV segment is among the most popular and competitive in the automotive market today, adding an impressive array of electric models to the mix.
The variety of models within it is astounding with sporty crossovers, family-haulers, and off-roaders. These days, there are also EV models. Before you look for an electric vehicle dealer, let’s take a look at the best midsize crossover EVs for 2024.
2024 Kia EV9
The 2024 Kia EV9 is on the larger side of midsize SUVs and it offers an EPA estimated range of 230 to 304 miles depending on the trim. The starting price for the EV9 is $56,395, which isn’t far off many of the price tags for three-row midsize SUVs with combustion engines.
One thing about the EV market is that most of the models aren’t particularly family-friendly. They’re short on space and high on price. However, the EV9 bucks this trend with a truly spacious interior and a reasonable starting price. The main downside of the EV9 is that its base trim is pretty poky.
Otherwise, the Kia EV9 offers a dual-motor powertrain with AWD and 379 horsepower. It also has a decent towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, which is the same as the three-row, gas-powered Telluride.
2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV
On the sporty side of things, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV delivers comfortable and competent performance for a starting price of $48,995. Its EPA-estimated range is up to 283 miles. Some perks of the Blazer EV include its comfortable ride, spacious cabin for five, and attractive styling.
However, it’s almost as expensive as the Cadillac Lyriq and doesn’t have Apple/Android connectivity. Most models get less than 300 miles of range and you’ll generally have to sacrifice performance and/or AWD to get a range over 300 miles.
The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s lineup is somewhat complicated, with several powertrain configurations. For example, the base LT trim can be had in either FWD or AWD, but the midrange RS trim comes in either RWD or AWD. The RWD RS trim offers the maximum range for the model.
2024 Honda Prologue
The 2024 Honda Prologue has a similar sporty feel to the Blazer EV and it starts at a slightly lower price of $48,795. For this price, you’ll get a good driving range, fairly fast charging speeds, and a roomy cabin. One of the reasons it might remind you of the Blazer is that the platform was jointly developed with General Motors.
The Prologue comes in a handful of trims with either FWD or AWD layouts. A single-motor powertrain is standard and delivers 212 horsepower, but the AWD setup makes 288 horsepower. FWD models get up to 296 miles of range, while AWD models get about 273 miles of range.
All trims are well-equipped, with even the base trim sporting heated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Higher trims add leather upholstery and premium audio.
Finding an electric vehicle dealer for these EV models may depend on your location as some areas are more likely to stock EVs than others. It’s best to contact your local branded dealership for more information.
