It’s time for a mid-cycle refresh in the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe, which receives some impressive new features to make it a better full-size SUV.
The Tahoe is ubiquitous with big power, strong towing, and large family hauling. Set up with seating for eight, this Chevy SUV is perfect for your family adventures. Whether you’re planning some fun adventures with your brood in the wilderness or just need a big SUV to bring home enough materials for a weekend project, the Tahoe has the power to handle the job. Let’s review some of the upgrades found in this new full-size Chevy SUV.
What’s new for 2025?
When the new Chevy Tahoe goes on sale for the 2025 model year, a few new items come with it. This big SUV has a mild style refresh, giving it smarter styling while remaining recognizable as the Tahoe. Once you step inside, you’ll find a new standard 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and an interesting 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster.
Power for the V8 engine remains the same, but the diesel engine brings more power to the mix, giving the Tahoe 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. This diesel engine provides the highest torque number of any Chevy SUV.
The new 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe includes new towing aids to make it much easier to pull a trailer and monitor the trailer tires while on the road. You’ll also see improved driving aids to provide more alerts, which makes it easier to trust this big SUV. Chevy upgraded the suspension and added air springs in the RST trim.
A few new wheel options are also available to make this SUV more attractive. Some of these wheels are massive, measuring as much as 24 inches, which are the largest ever mounted on a Tahoe at the factory.
Which trim should you choose?
Do you want some flash and dash or a bit of off-road rough and tumble? While the flash and dash part of the Tahoe is a bit of a stretch, the RST trim brings improved styling to give this SUV a sportier look for your time on the road. On the other hand, if you want off-road expertise in this SUV, the Z71 is the right trim. The Z71 trim comes with standard 4WD, a rugged appearance, and a full package of off-road equipment.
When you want more power from your V8 engine, selecting the 6.2-liter model gives you 65 more horsepower than the standard 5.3-liter V8 engine. All three engines, including the diesel, attach to a 10-speed automatic transmission to provide smooth shifting on and off the roads.
The Z71 includes a two-speed transfer case that makes it easy to transition from RWD to 4WD with the turn of a switch. This model also rides on 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. The underbody protection keeps vulnerable items from being damaged while on the trails. If you add the air springs, you can raise or lower the ride height or the driving conditions.
How much does the Tahoe tow?
The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe doesn’t make many changes from the current 2024 model, which means the tow ratings might not change. The max towing for this full-size Chevy SUV is 8,400 pounds, which is almost as much as many of the full-size pickups in the market. Strangely, this max towing is for Tahoe SUVs equipped with the base engine and RWD. Choose the 6.2-liter V8 and the tow rating drops by 100 pounds and then another 100 pounds when the diesel engine is selected.
Plenty of room for the whole family
This big and brawny SUV has a large passenger area with three rows of seats. The second row slides forward and backward to provide desired cargo and passenger flexibility. The front seats have a large center console between them, providing storage for smartphones, drinks, and other small items you’ll take with you. When you fold the rear two rows, you’ll find 123 cubic feet of cargo space to load up all the gear you need to take along during your time on the road.
Is the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe right for you?
It won’t be long until this new 2025 version of the Tahoe is available at dealerships. This big Chevy SUV continues to offer the qualities and features that have made it one of the most endearing large SUVs in the entire market. If you’re looking for a big vehicle that can tow a heavy load and carry your family to the lake for your weekend adventures, the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe could be right for you.
