On March 21st, 2023, Ford revealed their newest electric vehicle to the world. Built in Germany and made for European drivers, it completely revolutionized the brand in Europe and marked a new wave of innovative EV creation by Ford.
But what vehicle did they bring back with a new electric spin? How is it unique and innovative compared to other Ford models and EVs? And – perhaps most importantly – when will we see it at Ford dealers worldwide instead of just in Europe?
The New Ford Explorer EV
The Ford Explorer has been one of Ford’s most popular SUV models since it was made in the 1990s, and this year it was made into an EV!
With five seats, a moveable infotainment SYNC screen, enough space for a large laptop in the front center console, massaging, and heating seats, and a shield-like structure in place of a grille, the Ford Explorer EV is a truly unique, innovative vehicle.
In addition to the exterior style and interior comfort features, this crossover can charge from 10% to 80% in only 25 minutes, has wireless compatibility, and introduces Assisted Lane Change technology to a European Ford vehicle for the first time.
With all this and more behind the creation of the Ford Explorer EV, there’s no question why everyone is eager to get their hands on it!
But there is this question: when will it be for sale at Ford dealers in Europe?
The Release Schedule for Europe
Official Ford websites across Europe are taking reservations for the Ford Explorer EV. Estimated pricing is currently set at 45,000 euros, which is about $49,000 for interested buyers in the United States.
Outside of reservations, the Ford Explorer EV should be available through European Ford dealer locations in the latter half of this year.
But that still leaves the question: when, if ever, will this new EV be seen outside of Europe? The Explorer started as an American SUV, after all, and the growing EV market in the U.S. is ready for new editions of old classics.
Ford’s Future Electrification Plans – When Will the World See the All-New EV?
With the creation of a Ford Cologne EV Centre in Germany, Ford’s European brand has made a commitment to offering an all-electric passenger vehicle portfolio in Europe by 2030. While the Ford Explorer EV is only the first in a new wave, it definitely won’t be the last.
So when will it be ready for the rest of the world? Honestly, there’s no way to know yet. Interest is already being drummed up worldwide by a Ford-sponsored round-the-world expedition by influencer Lexie Limitless set to start later this year, so it’s certain to hit the world stage sometime.
But Ford hasn’t started selling it in Europe yet, so there’s plenty of time for a release in other countries or worldwide before 2024 or after.
Keep your ears open for more information about when the Ford Explorer EV will reach your local Ford dealer!
