The Porsche Taycan: Incredible Electric Power
If you want a car that’s going to engage your senses in a futuristic way, the Porsche Taycan is the right car for you.
This electric performance machine isn’t going to struggle on any road, but it wants to take you to the track or on the canyon run to show you just how impressive it can be when you tear up the tarmac. When driving in a tame environment, this four-door EV can offer you and your passengers the upscale comfort and luxury feeling desired for a classy night out at the club.
You Won’t Forget this is a Porsche
Don’t think of the Taycan as subdued or dialed down; Porsche isn’t going to allow that at all. Instead, you’ve got a sports car that’s dialed up and ready to drive. This car brings you lively steering, sporty dynamics, and instant torque to allow the car to rocket to the speeds you want before you know what happened. If you’re looking for a car that can tickle your senses and offer a thrill ride while giving you an electric powertrain, the Taycan is one that has everything you’ve been searching for.
There’s New Stuff in this New Car
The 2022 version of the Porsche Taycan isn’t the first model; it was around for 2021 as well. You might think that Porsche wouldn’t make upgrades in only the second year, but that just wouldn’t be what Porsche does at all. A new GTS model has joined the lineup to give you 590 horsepower for the high-performance drive you’re after. The infotainment system has been upgraded with enhanced voice commands, an improved operating system, and Android Auto. This is a car that can now be parked remotely by smartphone, which is a cool feature that might turn into a party trick that you show off to your friends.
More About That GTS Trim
The new GTS model of the Taycan has more than just an increase in horsepower. This version borrows some of the performance equipment from the Turbo S, giving you the gear needed to harness the power and experience a fast lap when your turn comes at the track. This new model also offers unique chassis tuning and powertrain calibrations to ensure you have a distinct driving experience when compared to the other Taycan models that you’ll find in the lineup.
Choose Your Own Paint
If the blue offered by Porsche isn’t blue enough for you or the red is just too red, you can select your own paint color, and Porsche will put it on the Taycan that you want to drive. This is the result of the new “Paint to Sample” program offered by Porsche. This program allows you to select personal colors that you want to enjoy. If you’re not sure which one to select, you can look back at classic Porsche models from the 1990s to find some of the colors that were used that just might be right for your Taycan.
Could the 4S Model be Right for You?
You certainly can head up the trims to the Turbo and Turbo S models and have incredible performance and fun, but if you’re never going to schedule a track day, you might want to stick with the more affordable 4Strim. This is an excellent model, and it gives you AWD, a 522-horsepower powertrain, 19-inch wheels, an adaptive air suspension, a partial leather interior, and a keyless entry. Add the Performance Battery Plus to the mix, and you’ve got a larger battery pack, a bit more power, and more driving range in the Taycan you want to drive every day.
The Performance Package is also the desired upgrade, giving you rear-axle steering, torque vectoring, the Sport Plus drive model, and active anti-roll bars. These items increase the feel, control, and performance you’ll enjoy in this model of the Taycan.
The Power Levels of this Porsche
Most of the Porsche Taycan versions use two electric motors, with one powering the front and one powering the rear. Each trim level gives you a different power number for the drive. The 4S, mentioned above, reaches 522 horsepower with the small battery pack and 562 ponies with the larger battery installed.
Move to the Turbo model of the Taycan, and you have the larger battery pack as part of the standard setup. This gives you 670 horsepower, while the Turbo S is tuned up to 750 horsepower for your drive. If you choose the base model of this car, you’ll have between 402 and 469 horsepower, once again, based on the battery size. This model is only set up in RWD, which means it only has the rear motor and not the front one.
Every version of this car has a two-speed transmission that gives you the shifting you want when pushing through a passing area to get ahead of the slower drivers.
Driving Range is Boring but Important
Similar to fuel efficiency, driving range in an EV is a necessary topic whenever we talk about that vehicle. The Taycan is rated between 199 and 227 miles of driving range depending on the battery size and the tuning of the motors. All versions of this car give you 800-volt fast charging to ensure you can charge your batteries quickly. This car can be charged from five to 80 percent in 23 minutes using an 800-volt DC fast charger but will take 93 minutes if you’re stuck with a 50-kW DC fast charger.
The Perfect Future Car Does Exist
The sleek design that tells you this car is a Porsche, coupled with the amazing electronics and futuristic features of the cabin, makes it easy for you to know that the perfect car of the future is already here. Take the Porsche Taycan out for a drive to see if it’s the electric sports car that you want to enjoy. There’s much more to this car than just the sportiness, it’s comfortable and elegant, making it the right car for all of your upscale parties and tailgating events at the same time.
