If ever there was a car that embodied driving, the Porsche 911 has been that car for more of the world than any other.
For many decades, the Porsche 911 has been the icon of true sports car driving. Car lovers around the world have chosen this impressive machine with its perfect balance and amazing agility to be the car that can offer the excitement and fun desired.
Variety has been the Name of the Porsche Game
Not only has the iconic Porsche 911 been the car that we’ve admired as the sports car with the most fun, the right balance of features, and a high-quality drive, it’s been offered in several different versions for many years. When you shop for a Porsche, you often find yourself faced with choices for nearly every aspect of the vehicle. With so many different ways to drive, we always wonder what the future of this car might be.
Are Electrified Models Going to Challenge Our Love of the 911?
Porsche has been on the cutting edge regarding hybrid/electric technology for drivetrains. The Porsche 918 Spyder is still talked about as one of the most impressive hybrid sports cars ever made. After holding its Annual Press Conference, we learned more of the goals for Porsche and the amazing cars they offer.
At the press conference, Porsche executives informed the world the brand only lost three percent during the pandemic last year when compared to 2019. Along with this good news, the leaders of Porsche gave us some insights into what to expect for the Porsche 911. Although the brand expects to offer as many as eighty percent of its models with electric powertrains by 2030, the Porsche 911 will likely not have a fully-electric powertrain.
Expect Hybrid Porsche 911 Models, but not Electric
Because the 911 is the iconic car that symbolizes everything that’s good about the Porsche brand, it’s not a car this company is willing to mess with. The formula for success in a sports car has been clear since the first 911 rolled off the line. We may see this car receive a hybrid powertrain, but it will certainly continue with an internal combustion engine and offer the fun and sounds we love.
Another Goal from the Press Conference
Once our collected hearts stopped beating hard waiting for the Porsche 911 news, we could chew on the fact that Porsche is also working to research eFuel in partnership with Siemens Energy. This new fuel is expected to offer the performance of an internal combustion engine without the same level of emissions. So far, eFuel has gotten good results with a reduction of CO2 by ninety percent.
If you were concerned the iconic Porsche 911 would soon be a thing of the past, you can relax. This impressive sports car continues to roll forward and give us the amazing performance and fun that we’ve enjoyed for many decades. We can all breathe a sigh of relief and wonder how much more fun a hybrid 911 just might be.
