The Range is Right in the Ford Mustang Mach-E
The first electric Ford Mustang is the Mach-E model and it is an interesting vehicle for us to talk about before it arrives.
Whether you think the Mustang name should be used for an electric vehicle or not, it’s been done. This new Mach-E model is built to look a lot different from the gasoline counterparts as it ushers in a new era for the Ford brand.
Go Up to 300 Miles on a Single Charge
If you thought the Ford Mustang Mach-E was a gimmick, the range this car brings is one that doesn’t feel that way at all. Ford estimated this model would reach 300 miles on a single charge when it came to market, and now we know that’s the case. To reach this range, you will have to choose the right trim, but that’s pretty much what was expected.
Various Numbers Across the Trims
The official numbers for the Mach-E Mustang tell us that various trims of this vehicle can reach anywhere from 211 to 300 miles of driving on a single charge. If you’re looking for the model that has the longest range, you’ll want to choose the Premium trim which brings you RWD, and an extended-range battery as an option to add to the mix. This could be the right choice for you, but we should look at what others bring as well.
If you choose the AWD version of the Premium trim, you’ll have a Ford Mustang Mach-E that can reach 270 miles of driving on a single charge. Without the extended-range battery, the Premium model can give you 230 miles of driving range in RWD models and 211 in the AWD versions. This means you’ll want to figure out how far you need to go between charges and whether or not you want to have AWD as part of the mix.
A Model that Didn’t Get Certified
We now know the various range numbers for the Premium trim of the Mach-E Mustang, but the EPA did not certify the California Route 1 edition of this vehicle. Even so, this version will use the same extended-range batter and RWD layout as the Premium that offers the best range numbers. Knowing this, you can expect to see 300 miles of driving in this version of this Ford EV.
Several Models of the Ford Mustang Mach-E at Different Times
Right now, if you want to drive this electric Mustang, you can choose the Premium or one of the limited-production First Edition versions. The Route 1 and Select (which is the base trim) models will appear very soon. The Select will have a smaller battery pack, which means a shorter range of driving. The high-performance GT trim is expected to arrive in the summer to give you 459 horsepower and 612 lb.-ft. of torque to offer the power and fun you want in a Mustang.
