If you can imagine a trim level, powertrain, or build that an automaker could offer for a compact SUV, the 2020 Ford Escape will include it. The Ford team is building this new version of the Escape with new engines, two new hybrid powertrains, an AWD system, and a ton of technology to make sure you can have everything you want in the small SUV that you drive. It’s a good thing Ford is offering all this n the Escape, considering this will be the vehicle that will be the cornerstone of the brand going forward.
Looking Under the Hood of the Escape
When the 2020 version of the Ford Escape arrives, it will have hybrid power that will be available as a traditional setup or as a plug-in hybrid layout. This system will use the familiar 2.5-liter engine and a CVT to give you 198 horsepower for the drive. For gasoline-only customers, there will be two choices with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder with the same boosting. The larger of the two will give you 250 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque while the smaller will offer 180 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive.
More Space for You in the Escape
The purpose of a small crossover SUV is to provide your family with the vehicle needed to perform your daily duties. The Escape is ready to offer you the best-in-class rear legroom with a bench seat that can slide fore and aft about six inches. When you have the rear seats all the way forward, you’ll have 37.5 cubic feet of cargo space which is reduced to 33.5 cubic feet when the rear seats are slid all the way back. This means you can make use of the space the way you need to, making the Escape a versatile SUV for you.
Tech Where You Want it
The new Ford Escape will offer you the benefits of the driver assistance technology in the Co-Pilot 360 system while making your drive easier with the benefits of adaptive cruise control and automatic lights. There’s an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment screen for all but the base model and a 12.3-inch gauge cluster offered to give you the readings you want when you drive. The music you love will come to you through a ten-speaker/575-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system to give you the sounds you’re looking for.
Get Ready to Choose Your Trim Level
The new 2020 Ford Escape will be offered in S, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium trims to make it easy for you to find the trim with the features you want for your drive. This SUV is being built in the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky and will be available later this year for you to purchase and enjoy. If you’re looking for the hybrid versions of this SUV, you will have to wait until the spring of 2020 when the regular and plug-in hybrid models will be offered.
