Car Innovations
Every year cars are improving and evolving to meet the needs of drivers and give them a better and safer driving experience. With safety and driver comforts being the main focus in-car features, it’s exciting to see where innovations are currently and where they’re headed.
Safety Technologies
Safety technology has become more and more standard. With lane-keeping assist, cars are helping drivers stay in their lane and alert them when they drift outside the lines. This is a common and useful safety feature that helps keep drivers alert, especially on long trips. One of the most helpful safety features is blind spot monitoring. Blind spot detection can help keep drivers aware when they’re trying to maneuver between lanes and think the coast is clear when it may not be. Lately, pedestrian alerts have been gaining popularity, which is helpful in a world full of distracted driving. It may seem obvious when a pedestrian is in front of a car while driving, but drivers aren’t always aware of crosswalks and pedestrians don’t always check for vehicles, assuming they’re safe because they’re in a crosswalk.
Safety features like OnStar make contacting emergency personnel easier especially in the case of an accident where a driver or passengers aren’t able to call 911 themselves. These automated safety technologies are just some of the current ways that cars are helping drivers drive more confidently and stay aware of their surroundings.
Magic Body Control
A very unique feature currently in Mercedes-Benz and Audi models is Magic Body Control. This technology will automatically adjust suspension when driving over a bump in the road. This is all made to keep the drive smooth as though drivers are going over a perfectly flat road. This is a feature that only adds to the value of luxury vehicles where drivers are seeking the fastest and smoothest ride.
Massaging Seats
Driver comforts are some features that are equally popular because a driver can have a long commute to work and back or travel daily for their job, which requires them to spend more time in their car versus at home. That’s where driving comforts like massaging seats come in. Driver seats already also have lumbar support and can memorize two driver positions for multiple drivers in a family, but that extra luxury feature of massaging helps fight driving fatigue.
What’s to Come in the Future?
As cars innovations continue to grow in the near future, it’s likely we’ll see features like magic body control enter more brands outside of luxury as well as additional safety technologies. With self-driving cars in the works, it’ll be interesting to see what unveils in the next two years
