The Olympic Support from Toyota

The Olympic Support from Toyota

The Toyota name has long been a part of the Olympics, but for the 2020 games in Tokyo, Japan, it seems this brand will be an even greater partner.

We’re not only going to see some amazing athletes perform in their chosen events, but we’re also going to see a variety of mobility solutions offered by Toyota in support of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This may be the first large-scale event of this type to ever receive the mobility solutions offered by Toyota and certainly will be the one that we’re all going to remember.

The Pillars of Mobility from Toyota

The plan for the 2020 Games activities is organized around three main pillars to make sure everyone can experience the games and what Toyota has to offer. These three pillars are; mobility for all, sustainability centering on a hydrogen society, and the transportation of support staff and athletes using a Toyota Production System based product. With these three pillars in place, the brand expects to offer unprecedented access to the people including those with impairments to make sure everyone can experience the games and the mobility offered. This mobility could lead to a future of offering the freedom to move to more people around the world.

Mobility for All

The Toyota team will offer the freedom of movement to everyone including those with impairments by showcasing the automated vehicles that can be used around the area of the games. They will also introduce a new type of moving experience with the Toyota Concept-I which is a new car that will use artificial intelligence. Toyota will also offer support transportation services for athletes and guests to get around the area using specially designed vehicles. Finally, they will provide an existing assistive vehicle lineup to make sure everyone that needs an assistive ride can have one.

Sustainability

Using a fleet of vehicles that will operate on hydrogen to replace many of the busses and commercial vehicles that typically run on gas, Toyota will show the world that a hydrogen-based fleet of vehicles is possible and can make it easier to have the drive desired. In addition to hydrogen models, there will be several that are operated using batteries for the electric drive desired to help show the sustainability of the program and make it possible for the Tokyo Olympic Games to be a nearly zero-emissions event.

The Toyota Production System

There are an estimated 15 million visitors that will attend or participate in the Tokyo games in 202. The movement of these people will be done by using Toyota vehicles that will offer the mobility desired. This will also mean the Toyota team will support the vehicles and help to dispatch them in a manner that can allow them to be efficient and able to provide the drive desired. Once this system is in place and proves to be able to function for the entirety of the Olympic Games, other cities around the world could be ready for the Toyota system to be put in place.
