The Rigorous Testing Begins for the X7

Rigorous Testing Begins for the X7

As we look toward the future, some models are entering the final stages of testing in order to become the next great vehicle for us to drive. It’s something to behold to go through the journey of a vehicle from start to finish and the closer we get to the release date, the more excited we can become that a new model will be offered and make its way to the lineup for us to have what we want to enjoy on the road. The final stages of one model have begun and the last year of development will take place.

The new BMW X7 is an SUV that will be offered mostly for the US market and it will be built in alongside the BMW X5 and X6 that are both built at the Spartanburg, SC plant in the US. Currently, the X7 models are being built with the pre-production models rolling off the assembly line in order to give us a look at what will be part of the lineup in the future. With these pre-production models coming off the line, the units will be sent to the development department specialists that will put these vehicles through the rigorous testing to be what we’ll want when they make it to the market.

What We’ll See in the New BMW X7

Because we’ve already seen a few of these pre-production models as they have come off the line, we can expect to see a variety of spy shots over the next several months until the X7 is offered as a model that we get to enjoy as the largest SUV in the BMW lineup. These prototypes will undergo endurance testing, be put through some extreme conditions in the desert regions of Death Valley, and head to the snow in the Scandinavian area. These models will be wearing camouflage, but all will be tested.

A New Concept To Keep Your “i” On

The preview of this new model showed up as the BMW X7 iPerformance Concept which will share some of the qualities with this new version of the largest SUV from this automaker. The actual production model will make its way to the market before the end of the 2018 model year. Since the pre-production models are coming off the line it appears this SUV is one that will be ready to be delivered to dealerships in the next several years so that you can have the drive that you want on the road.
BMW is proud to have the X7 be the next model that’s going to be built in the Spartanburg, SC plant, as this has become the home of the X models offered from this impressive automaker. With the addition of the X7, there will be five different models that will be offered from this particular plant for us to enjoy on the road. This isn’t just a location that builds the BMW crossovers for the North American market; SUVs are exported all over the world from the Spartanburg plant, making it the center of BMW SUV expertise.
