2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: A New Version of this Midsize Luxury Model
For 2017, Mercedes-Benz chose the E-Class as the model that would be changed to be made better. This may have been in response to the same being done at BMW with their midsize model. With this new E-Class we see the tenth generation of the sedan to give us a vehicle that’s been a longstanding leader in the class that offers the advanced features and equipment we want to enjoy on the road. This new model of the midsized sedan offers us many new version of the car including a new Wagon, Coupe and Cabriolet to go along with the sedan that we know we’ll love.
The Mercedes- Benz E-Class is the car with the style that is of the most admired ilk in the midsized luxury car segment. The beauty of having so many versions of this car is that different drivers will enjoy this car in different ways. Under the hood of the E-Class there are three different engines you could come across. The base model, the E300 is equipped with the smallest engine which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that is capable of providing 241 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission to give you 22 city/30 hwy mpg in RWD and 22 city/29 hwy mpg in AWD.
The next engine is the 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V6 which gives you 329 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque. This is the engine used for the Coupe, Convertible and Wagon version of the E-Class. This engine uses the seven-speed automatic transmission with the coupe and convertible while the wagon is graced with the new nine-speed shift structure. This allows you to enjoy 20 city/29 hwy mpg in RWD and 20 city/28 hwy mpg in AWD.
Moving up to the E43 AMG 4Matic Sedan the engine is the same 3.0-liter model, but it’s been tuned up to offer 396 horsepower and 386 lb.-ft. of torque while being matched to the nine-speed automatic transmission. At the top of the lineup the E550 Coupe and Convertible are able to make use of the 4.7-liter twin turbocharged V8 that offers up 402 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque. This beauty is also mated to the nine-speed automatic that is a sport version of the transmission to provide you with 18 city/26 hwy mpg and the power you want to have in this amazing new car.
Standard features for this new E-Class include items such as real wood accent trim, dual zone climate controls, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, power front seats, the mobile app service, rain sensing wipers, Bluetooth connectivity, SmartKey remote locking and ambient cabin lighting. The Coupe and Cabriolet models add real leather surfaces to the mix and you will enjoy a great suite of safety items on any model including adaptive braking, Pre-Safe systems and seven airbags.
Looking to the options you can enjoy the E-Class offers Nappa leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster, a 1,450-watt Burmester audio system, the Acoustic Comfort Package that provides a quieter cabin, and increases levels of luxury from the Premium 1, Premium 2 or Premium 3 packages. You can even add the semi-autonomous feature called Drive Pilot and enjoy taking your hands off the wheel for a bit.
