One of the largest vehicles in the Mini lineup is the Clubman. Mini made this car with the idea that it would attract a more discerning customer than its typical Cooper model and gave it several features that aren’t offered on some of the smaller models. Not only can you have the Clubman and know you have reached the top of the Mini lineup in an affordable fashion, but you can have the John Cooper Works Clubman model and enjoy an even more engaging driving experience and more features that you would on the base Clubman. This makes the Clubman a vehicle worth our discussion.
The engine under the hood of the JCW Clubman is the same one that you find in the smaller Clubman with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that pushes out 228 horsepower. This larger model does receive a nice upgrade when it comes to the torque. The Hardtop shows up with 236 lb.-ft. of torque but the JCW model increases that number to 258 to make this the Mini that shows up with the most torque in the lineup. To top it all off this car gives you standard All4 AWD that makes the most use of this added power.
This little big Mini is capable of reaching sixty mph in only six seconds and offers a top speed of 147 mph which is nearly a second faster than the S model from a year ago. The JCW Clubman rides on a sportier suspension and offers a ride height that’s been lowered to give you better handling than before. The seats inside are two-piece sport seats that will keep you in place as you enjoy this new handling ability and makes it much easier for you to enjoy the ride in comfort on any road.
What this vehicle really is for you is a combination of parts that we already like on some of the other Mini models, all put together the right way to give you a car that can perform and look the way you want it to. These parts we love show up as both transmissions, the six-speed manual is standard and the eight-speed automatic is optional, the six door setup, 18-inch wheels and an aggressive body kit that makes the car look great while offering better engine and brake cooling to make the ride even better than before.
The JCW Clubman does come in with a bit more weight than the base model at 3,500 pounds versus the3,300 that the base offers, but that additional weight is needed to make this car what it is. The only question left for you to ask yourself now is whether or not this is the car for you. With the added torque and all the items you love from Mini in one of the largest models in the lineup this could be the Mini that feels like a lot more car than it actually is for you to enjoy the ride.
