It has been discussed at length and mulled over for months, but finally the new 2016 Volvo XC90 will come to market and be an SUV we want to drive. When luxury and safety are important to you in a large SUV, this is the right one to choose. This is an SUV that makes others shake and look in awe at just how amazing this vehicle is for you to drive and find the right place to enjoy the ride. The new XC90 comes in Momentum, Inscription and R-Design trims and offers the AWD and a seven-passenger seating that makes this an SUV that you can enjoy anywhere.
Volvo has come up with what they are calling the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) which makes this an SUV that is larger than the previous model that improves it rigidity with more high strength steel that allows for a weight loss of 200 pounds from the previous model. Adding to this improvement the XC90 will use a new suspension and steering system to be more active in corners while minimizing the body roll, which makes this a vehicle that is more enjoyable to drive and challenge its ability on any road. The Four Corner Active Air Suspension feature adds the stability you want that allows for auto-leveling of the vehicle to automatically give you the drive you want for whatever speed you choose.
On the inside you will enjoy the comfort and confidence you have when taking a ride in the new XC90. This new SUV features leather upholstery, fine wood trim, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a navigation system, a glass panoramic roof, quad-zone climate controls and the Sensus 9.0-inch color touch screen that gives you the connectivity and functionality you want to enjoy on any road. This new system also adds a Wi-Fi hotspot to the vehicle which allows for several devices to be connected.
With any Volvo model we have to talk safety. The seats have been fully redesigned to be ergonomic and safe on any road. Up front we have power activated front bucket seats while the rears offers a 40/20/40 sliding and folding second road which allows for easy cargo carrying ability. The third row is a 50/50 split to make this an even more versatile vehicle for you to enjoy. The cargo space starts at 15.8 cubic feet with the third row up and moves to 41.8 when the third row is down and then up to 85.7 cubic feet with all rows down to give you plenty of room to haul what you need.
Volvo enhanced the engine lineup of this vehicle by giving us a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is both supercharged and turbocharged to offer 316 horsepower and 296 lb.-ft. of torque which allows for the towing of up to 5,000 pounds. This SUV could actually make the run to sixty mph in only 6.1 seconds; not bad at all for a heavy and large SUV that is powered by only four-cylinders.
The T8 engine offered for this SUV pushes all its power to front wheels while being aided by a rear mounted electric motor that adds 177 horsepower. This pairing gives you the output of 400 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque to give you a time to sixty mph of 5.9 seconds and a more efficient system. The plug in version allows you to enjoy 25 miles of driving in only electric mode to make for a much more efficient ride. Both engines use smooth performing eight-speed automatic transmissions to be a pair of highly formidable engines that have been engineered for lighter weight and more power.
Adding to the safety of this vehicle the XC90 brings us a couple new safety technologies in the Run-off Road Protection and Auto Brake at Intersections which will both add to the already comprehensive list of safety features. When you want an SUV that is large and full of awesome luxury the Volvo XC90 can be the right one for you to drive. Room for seven, great power, efficient engines and all the safety and features you want make the XC90 the right choice for you to drive on an off the road.
