The new Tesla Model X is the next version of all electric driving from Tesla to give us an amazing driving performance with no gasoline backup. Tesla has been highly successful with their other models already, cornering a market for high end luxury electric power that delivers what we want. The Model X is the crossover SUV model that offers gullwing doors that will open in a dramatic fashion in order to give you a look and feel that will excite and impress your neighbors as you drive down the road or when you park in your driveway.
When you look and see the $132,000 price for the P90D Signature or the $142,000 for the Ludicrous-enabled P90D Founder Edition you might be taken aback by the pricing. Of course if you plan to play in this sandbox you are going to pay a fairly high price for a vehicle regardless of what you choose. Even though in most cases Tesla takes a haughty stance to its performance by never adding a gasoline backup engine and doesn’t settle for less than the best in performance and technology they have found a way to offer a less expensive model for you to appreciate and enjoy.
This lower priced model will be the Tesla Model X 70D which will come at the price of $81,200. Although this is still a price most of us won’t be able to afford, many will find this the model they want to buy to have the ability to drive a Tesla Model X without reaching up over the $100,000 mark. This version will have a few differences for you to take into consideration when making this choice but will still give you some great luxury features and offer excellent performance.
The 70D will use a 70 kWh battery pack instead of the 90 kWh version used in the other models. This brings the range of the Model X down to 220 miles, which is still plenty for most of us considering the need to drive more than this each day doesn’t occur very often. Other differences include the speed to reach sixty mph which grows to 6.0 seconds, the third row of seats will cost extra instead of being offered as standard fare, the Autopilot self-driving feature will also cost an additional $2,500 to put on this version as will the cold weather package and the towing package. Thankfully the AWD and the gullwing doors are also standard.
Even though the Tesla Model X P90D versions will be on the market very soon, if you want the 70D you will have to wait until the latter part of next year in order to put your hands on this model. The wait certainly can be worth it for this new version of an SUV from Tesla that will easily take the market by storm and show us what an extended range, all-electric SUV can do. As a technological leader this is certainly a way Tesla is thumbing their nose at the Tesla fighters that haven’t figured out how to make this happen in their own companies.
