The roar of Cadillac Thunder
Can you hear it? The low grumble that starts far away, allowing you to wonder and pictures what car that sound must belong to. It gets closer and closer, becoming louder, you can nearly hear every movement of the engine, all the firings of the cylinders, and even feel and taste the exhaust as it comes pouring out of the pipes. When you finally see it, the look on your face turns from amazed excitement to one of befuddled bewilderment. How on Earth is that noise coming from a Cadillac ATS?
The truth is the Cadillac ATS V-Coupe is more than capable of making the thunder shake and earth move under your feet. Using the same twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 engine that has found its way into the XTS VSport and CTS VSport, the ATS V-Coupe can seriously bring the heat with 425 horsepower of rolling thunder to more than challenge the BMW M3 and M4.
From a distance the ATS V-Coupe looks identical to the ATS, but once it arrives on the scene it’s easy to some distinct visual differences from the ATS. First, the V-Coupe ha a vented hood to allow better airflow in cooling the growling beast contained in the engine compartment. Sacramento Cadillac tells us that the body kit shows some modifications along with upgraded tires, brakes, wheels and even quad exhaust tips.
Another amazing change is the weight of the car. The V-Coupe is lighter than rival models thanks to the Alpha underpinnings. The transmission aboard is a seven-speed manual with an eight-speed automatic available as an optional choice. Aiding the ride performance and giving drivers plenty of amazing control and confidence is the Magnetic Ride Control feature which helps drivers make the most of the power offered and keeps the car completely balanced for a smooth ride at whatever speed is desired.
Wider tires and Brembo brakes are aboard the ATS V-Coupe, adding to the performance features of this amazing vehicle. The tires are actually an interesting element as they are nine inches wide in the front and a half inch wider in the rear, giving more grip and control for better confidence on the road. The interior is a full blend of Cadillac comfort and technology with sport performance all rolled into one great interior that gives owners the comfort they desire and the feedback they need to beat the pants off other cars who seem to think Cadillac vehicles are for the octogenarians.
Next time you hear that low rumble from far away, don’t expect a classic muscle car to come pulling up, but look for the amazing stylings and high-powered performance offered in the Cadillac ATS V-Coupe. Cadillac is no longer a maker of simple comfort and style, but has chosen to take on all challengers when it comes to power and performance as well and leave many an adversary crying home to his momma.
