Mercedes-Benz teases its new concept car ahead of CES 2015
Automaker’s have been releasing teaser images ahead of their announcements for years, and it has proven itself to be an effective and time-tested method of building up people’s excitement. An unfortunate side-effect of this is that the ambiguous nature of these teasers often serves to draw people into the whirlpool of speculation as well, which is exactly what happened when Mercedes-Benz recently released a shadowy teaser image on the company’s official Facebook page that was accompanied by the statement: “The future will be bolder than you’ve ever imagined.”
Mercedes-Benz has been teasing the launch of an extremely advanced concept vehicle for a few weeks, which the company intends to unveil at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas later this month. While next to nothing is known about the concept vehicle, what little we do know suggests that it’ll be an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle that will be capable of driving itself to some degree.
Autonomous vehicles have been a hot topic in the automotive industry for the last few years as automakers from across the globe rush to develop the technology that will power what many consider to be the future of personal vehicles. The fruits of these efforts are only just now starting to show, and considering how Mercedes-Benz tends to be at the forefront of innovation within the automotive industry, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Stuttgart-based automaker is one of the first companies to have a prototype that its ready show the world.
