Subaru of America has announced that it’ll be moving its corporate headquarters in New Jersey from Cherry Hill, where it has been for the last 28 years, to Camden, according to Autoblog. The new corporate headquarters, which is twice the size of Subaru’s current one, will be at the sight of a former Sear store on Admiral Wilson Boulevard.
The Japanese automaker’s United States division will be purchasing the property from the Campbell Soup Company, which purchased the 13-acre plot of land a couple of years ago with an eye toward development, on the grounds that the state of new Jersey provides them with a $118 million tax break, according to Left Lane News.
“We are very excited to be moving this project forward as we seek to bring all of our corporate employees together on one site, in a first class facility,” said Tom Doll, the CEO of Subaru of America, as quoted by Automotive News.
Provided that the New Jersey Economic Development Authority NJEDA approves Subaru’s plan, which they plan to decide on next April, the automaker will be able to work things out with its developers and begin working on the new corporate headquarters. Subaru plans to complete the 250,000-square-foot headquarters by late 2016 or early 2017.
