According to a new study that was released by Insurance.com, the Subaru WRX is the most ticketed car in the United States. If the report is to be believed, more than a third of all WRX (33.6%) drivers has reported receiving a traffic citation some time recently. The Pontaic GTO came in second with or 32.7%.
Rounding out the top five are the Scion FR-S with 32.6%, the Toyota Supra with 30.8% and the Subaru Tribeca with 29.7%. Three other American cars also made the list: the Mercury Topaz ranked seventh with 28.8%, the Pontiac G8, 15th with 27.7%, and the Saturn Aura, 18th with 27.1%
“It’s not about horsepower,” said Insurance.com managing editor Des Toups. “The Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper and Nissan GT-R rank well below average for tickets even though they can easily double the highest speed limits. But those cars are also costly, so their buyers tend to be older and take fewer risks.”
The insurance company analyzed more than half a million customer submissions from this year, ranking any vehicle for which more than 50 quotes were sought. The most-ticketed brand by percent was Scion. Its IC was ranked eighth on the list with 28.8% and xA, 14th with 27.8%. According to Insurance.com, 27.5% of Scion owners has gotten a traffic violation.
