According to the latest annual reliability survey which Consumer Reports released on Monday, as covered by Left Lane News, Asian automakers continue to be the go-to source for reliable vehicles, with 7 of the top 10 brands in the magazine’s annual ranking being from either South Korea or Japan.
The Los Angeles Times noted that consumer opinion was most affected by how well a vehicle’s navigation, phone, and stereo systems worked. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing at Consumer Reports, said that problems with infotainment systems “generally don’t exist in a vacuum,” adding that a “close look at the results suggest that cars with a lot of in-car electronic issues usually have plenty of other trouble too.”
Lexus, Toyota, and Mazda took the top three spots, while Buick, Audi, and Porsche were the only brands in the top 10 that weren’t Asian. According to NBC, the four least reliable models are Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Fiat, all of which are owned by Chrysler, with the Fiat 500L ranking as the least reliable of the 248 vehicles that were rated.
“We value customer feedback and use it to continuously improve our vehicles,” Chrysler told News4 in response the the negative feedback. “Many of the issues identified in the survey coincided with new product and technology introductions and have already been addressed with vehicles currently in production.”
