Rolls-Royce, the renowned maker of ultra-luxury vehicles, has just received a massive order of cars from a hotel executive in Hong Kong by the name of Stephen Hung. The massive, $20 million order calls for a fleet of thirty Rolls-Royce Phantoms, making this the single largest order of vehicles that the automaker has ever received.
Hung will use this multi-million dollar fleet of ultra-luxury vehicles to ferry guests to his Louis XIII luxury resort hotel in Macau. He signed the deal with Rolls-Royce executives on Tuesday at the automaker’s Goodwood factory in England, a deal which is more than double the automaker’s previous largest order of fourteen Rolls-Royce Phantoms back in 2006.
Louis XIII Holdings said it would pay the automaker a $2 million deposit, $3 million more by the end of the year and the remaining $15 million when the cars are delivered in the first half of 2016. The listing price of the Rolls-Royce Phantom is around $600,000 but many buyers order customer features for their ultra-luxury vehicle which can bring the price over $1 million.
Two of the Rolls-Royce Phantoms that are being ordered will be the most expensive versions of that model ever made, complete with “external and internal gold-plated accents,” according to an official statement from the automaker. That isn’t to say that the remainder of the fleet will be plain, not by any means. Each ultra-luxury vehicle will be customized by the automaker. For example, each vehicle will come with a clock from a luxury maker, Graff Luxury Watches.
