United States Vice President of Sales for Cadillac Kurt McNeil will be replaced by James Bunnell as of October, according to an announcement from General Motors. Mr. McNeil, who is the head of United States sales operations for General Motors, has been acting as Cadillac’s sales chief while the automaker searched for a permanent replacement for Bill Peffer, who left the company unexpectedly back in June to pursue other interests.
Mr. Bunnell was formerly the Vice President of Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe Sales, but has been moved to take on his new role. In this role, Mr. Bunnell will lead Cadillac’s sales and service activities in the brand’s largest market,” which includes “leadership of the brand’s sales and service staffs, and driving strategies for retail sales and customer experience initiatives,” according to Cadillac.
“The addition of Jim to Cadillac’s leadership team is one of the key steps we are taking to strengthen the focus and alignment of our organization,” said recently appointed Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen. “Jim has strong experience leading automotive sales and service organizations, including the crucial partnerships with dealers that are so important to our success.”
Mr. Bunnell first joined General Motors back in 1979 in the automaker’s finance, manufacturing, product planning, and regional sales management sectors. He was appointed General Manager of the Pontiac, Buick, and GMC brands back in 2007 and was promoted to head of the United States Sales Support Group for General Motors later that year.
