Ford is developing an official right-hand-drive 2015 Mustang
Ford has started testing a prototype of the first right-hand-drive Mustang for select markets across the world. The 2015 Ford Mustang will soon find its way to over 120 countries, 25 of which require right-hand-drive models, such as the United Kingdom, Australia, and South Africa.
Mustang engineers recently completed the construction of the first right-hand-drive variant of the sixth-generation Mustang. This prototype will be used to conduct various development tests in preparation for the car’s upcoming entry into the global market.
Ford, in an official press release regarding the news, said, “While the United States is the largest market for Mustang with more than 9.2 million sales since the car’s debut in 1964, more than 161,000 Mustangs have been sold outside of North America in that time. In 2012 alone, more than 4,000 Mustangs were sold in 35 countries outside of North America, ranging from the United Arab Emirates to Chile to the Philippines.”
The 2015 Ford Mustang has been receiving praise since it was revealed late last year, so it’s good to hear that enthusiasts across the world will now be able to experience the Mustang fo the first time.
Previously, aftermarket companies were the only way that people from countries such as Australia could acquire a right-hand-drive conversion of the Mustang. With the introduction of official right-hand-drive Mustangs, Ford is ensuring that the latest generation of the iconic muscle car will truly be a worldwide vehicle.
