Dodge’s first Challenger SRT Hellcat will be auctioned off for charity

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has been dominating automotive news outlets for the last week or so, and today is no exception. The North American automaker has announced that the first unit of its impressive Hellcat will be auctioned off for charity.

The special unit will be dressed in exclusive Stryker Red paint, reserved for the Viper, and will come equipped with the Black Laguna leather interior, the special badging and several other tweaks.

The auction will be taking place at the Barrett Jackson Las Vegas 2014 in late September, all of the proceeds of which will go towards the Opportunity Village charity which is supporting people with intellectual disabilities in Southern Nevada.

The muscle car will be powered by the same 6.2 liter V8 engine that can be found under the hood of every Challenger SRT Hellcat. The engine is rated at 707 HP (527 kW) and 880 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque, connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission which is sending power to the rear-wheel drive.
