The end of an era: The Bugatti Veyron production is over

The final Veyron, revealed as the Geneva Motor Show with the number 450 marks the end of the era and run for the Bugatti Veyron. As announced when this car was first introduced, Bugatti only ever planned to build 450 Veyrons, 300 of which were coupes and 150 were the open-top Grand Sports. Most recently the announcement came that there were only eight build spots left, all for the Grand Sports as the coupes sold out last year, marking the end of an era defined by a car that was the most amazing production car to date.

The Bugatti Veyron has been the standard by which all other exotic sports cars have tried to reach and in many ways have fallen short. There has not been a Veyron that has had one blemish as far as detail for power, performance, handling comfort and technology. These cars have been hand crafted and perfectly built from the very beginning to be the very best and nearly be treated as a work of art that prowls the streets showing off amazing features and unbelievable performance.

This last model, featured at the Geneva Motor Show is a Grand Sport Vitesse which is an 1,183 horsepower monster and most likely was already sold before it was ever viewed at the show. This is how many of the exotic car makers tend to do business, catering to the high end clients who are more than willing to wait years for their cars to be built before being able to take delivery. The limited supply of these types of cars makes them a treasure to appreciate and also rockets their price up to astronomical reaches that the average car shopper will never be able to afford.

With the news the Veyron run is over, what is expected from Bugatti for 2016? They have to make a car or produce something that will be successors to the Veyron don’t they? The reality is, the Bugatti boss, Wolfgang Durheimer has already informed the world Bugatti does not run on normal production cycles and there very well may not be a successor for the next few years. Durheimer went on to state these types of cars are similar to a piece of art and take a lot of time to develop, ensuring each and every part is perfect before allowing the public to see them.

On a positive note, Durheimer did go on to say the successor to the Veyron will have to outperform it in every possible way and will most likely package hybrid technology aboard the car. With that in mind we can all sit back, watch and wait to see what Bugatti comes up with next and how they are going to produce a car that will be even better than the top standard of the Veyron. Until that time, we can watch the other exotics and advances in technology and only hope Bugatti will include all advancements in their next run of awesome exotic cars.
