What has 1036 Horsepower?

As the horsepower race continues in the world of the European supercars (300 used to be a big number and is now almost a joke), so many cars are capable now of breaking 700 horsepower or even heading up to 900 on the track its stands to question when these cars are no longer going to be street legal anywhere on the planet. While they are still perfectly legal to drive on the roads in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia these super horsepower, superfast cars will continue to show up on the radar and make a huge impression on the automobile world as the tops in engineering and performance.

So what does carry in the 1036 horsepower number? How about the new Ferrari FXXK when it is track ready. This amazing speed machine is so dynamic from an aero stance it actually has 1190 pounds of downforce at 133 mph that glues this bad boy to the pavement. Appearing like a car that came straight out of the Speed Racer cartoon, the FXXK has a purpose for each and every angle, port, and curve on the car that will show off its amazing performance at massive speeds.

As for the power, this is brought to us by none other than the 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 that delivers 848 horsepower to the wheels. The rest of the power, a full 188 horsepower comes from the HY-KERS system with uses the technology of regenerative braking to add a huge amount of additional power to the car and bring the total horsepower up to the 1036 mark. This is Ferrari’s answer to the McLaren P1 and is ready to easily reach 60 mph in well under 2.5 seconds, especially since the lower powered LaFerrari W70 can do it in 2.9 seconds.

The cockpit of this amazing car is fully race ready with the racing seats (surprisingly there are two in a track ready car), a flat-bottomed steering wheel and a five-point harness. The FXXK is obviously a show stopper, but one that will leave the show in a hurry to show off the awesome power that is included in the racing nightmare. Of course it doesn’t hurt to have Ferrari make such a car, with their always over the top designs and the front-hinged gull-wing doors, the car has some of the most advanced and alluring racing features of any car on the market.

So now that we know what has 1036 horsepower, who is next? Without a doubt, one of these exotic and highly touted automakers is going to come out with a car that can reach 1500 horsepower (Ferrari already has a concept that should offer 1200 horsepower). I guess the other real question is, when does the horsepower race end and these turn into small planes taking flight? Regardless of the flight log of one of these cars, it’s certainly educational and a lot of fun to continually see these awesome high end car companies working to make the most powerful car on the track.
