Lyft takes on Uber in the battle for corporate clients

The ride-sharing app known as Lyft, one of Uber’s biggest competitors in the United States, has launched a new program called Lyft for Work in an effort to bring in more corporate clients. There are 29 partners so far – including Adobe, Yelp, Stripe, Postmates, and Thumbtack – who will be giving Lyft credits to their employees to use on their commute, according to Tech Crunch.

The program is very similar to Uber Perks, a corporate benefits program that was launched by Uber back in February of 2013, according to The Los Angeles Times. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, as the difference between the two companies was already small. Both of them offer services that connect riders to drivers, both allow payments through a smartphone app, and both launched carpool-like services in their home city of San Francisco back in August.

Lyft just recently announced that it experienced 500% growth in both riders and revenue this year, but even so, the company is still much smaller than Uber, which is currently looking to bring its value to a whopping $25 billion, according to PC World. That’s why Lyft needs to keep competing as aggressively as it has been, if it wants to hold its own against Uber. Enterprise is a highly coveted target, as big businesses bring in big business.
