Audi unveils the price and sale date of the Q1 and SQ1

In order to take on the Nissan Juke, Audi is preparing a compact crossover, known as the Q1, which will be introduced next year. A performance-focused model called the SQ1 will also be released, and will join the lineup shortly after the regular Q1 is released.

The Audi Q1 will reportedly share the bulk of its engines with the second-generation A1 sub-compact hatchback that is scheduled to be released at around the same time. The entry-level variants will be front-wheel drive while the better, more expensive models will be able to endure harsh weather conditions with ease thanks to Audi’s excellent all-wheel drive system.

Auto Express has speculated that the SQ1 model will be powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine that will send approximately 220 horsepower to all four wheels via a quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission and a performance-tuned quattro system.

Audi published a teaser image of the Q1 late last year which showed a muscular, Crosslane Coupé-inspired look. The Q1 is expected to come with the sharp headlights, wide haunches, and short overhangs that were shown on the model, but the Crosslane Coupé’s removable roof panel and impractical four-door body style will not carry over to the production model.
